It is known that the periodontitis treatment begins with the mechanical removal of deposits on the tooth surface and the removal of biofilms, for which ultrasound devices are also used. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the ultrasonic device Vector, which differs from previously known devices, as well as techniques of manual scaling and root polishing by generating a special type of oscillation. According to studies in patients treated with periodontitis with the Vector device, the depth of probing of the pockets was much smaller. In addition, after dental treatment with the Vector device, a significant increase in the level of gum attachment could be observed.
Chronic periodontitis causes destructive changes in the periodontal tissues, including the supporting apparatus of the tooth and can lead to tooth extraction and as a consequence – the need for dental prosthetics. Treatment is aimed at eliminating inflammation and, if possible, promote the regeneration of already lost periodontal tissue. To achieve these goals, both surgical and conservative methods of treating periodontitis are used. In conservative treatment, supra- and subgingival scaling and root polishing are used. To do this, the dentist has traditional hand tools, as well as ultrasound machines.
The advantage of the method is that the treatment becomes more gentle and minimally traumatic to the tissues, as well as virtually painless. Treatment of periodontitis with the device Vector leads to an increased level of attachment of the gums. Also, various studies have shown that in the area of furcation sound and ultrasonic instruments are more effective than hand tools.
